OUR STORY
ginTONIC Records was born in 2013 in Uppsala, Sweden — a university city better known for Vikings and Nobel laureates than for reggaeton. That's exactly what made it interesting.
Co-founded by Germán Ceballos, a computer scientist with a PhD in Computer Architecture, and Tharyk, an Argentine-Swedish singer-songwriter who grew up performing in theatre and musical comedy, the label started as a creative experiment: what happens when you combine Latin American musical roots with Scandinavian discipline and technology?
The first commercial release came in 2015 with Tharyk's debut album “Mi Destino.” Within three years, the roster had grown to include Camy G, PULI, APOLO, Fresh EP, and Damy Rojo — and the label had built a pipeline of original productions that reached audiences across Latin America, Europe, and beyond.
By 2018, ginTONIC artists were performing at Coca-Cola FlowFest in Mexico City (the world's largest reggaeton festival) and SummerBurst in Sweden. The label produced music for BigFish Entertainment's Netflix show “Who Likes My Follower?” and edited and scored the Feisworld documentary, now streaming on Amazon Prime.
In 2021, Tharyk's singles “Amor Sin Escalas” and “Enamorao” each crossed one million streams in under three weeks — both mixed and mastered by Luca Pretolesi at StudioDMI, the same engineer behind J Balvin, Daddy Yankee, and Becky G. “Enamorao” was featured by Billboard Argentina as a cultural milestone in LGBT+ representation within reggaeton.
Today, ginTONIC Records has released over 250 tracks, surpassed 100 million streams, and worked with more than 20 artists. The label operates from a dedicated recording studio in Uppsala — part of a creative space that also serves as a base for content production and experimentation.

We're one of the only independent labels operating from Scandinavia that produces reggaeton, Latin pop, and urban music. Our artists come from Argentina, Uruguay, Mexico, and beyond — but our infrastructure, work ethic, and production standards are distinctly Swedish.
A-list production, independent spirit
We work with world-class studios and producers. Luca Pretolesi at StudioDMI (J Balvin, Daddy Yankee, Becky G) has mixed and mastered our flagship releases. Grammy Award-winning pianist Ruslan Sirota performed on our acoustic productions. Producers like ElKeretumba, Yorker, and Kanno — who work with the biggest names in reggaeton and Latin pop — are part of our creative network.

Our co-founder brings over a decade of experience in technology, growth marketing, and content strategy — skills that shape how we distribute, position, and grow our artists in the streaming era.
Culturally forward
Tharyk's “Enamorao,” featured by Billboard Argentina, pushed boundaries in LGBT+ representation within a genre historically resistant to it. We believe the best music reflects the world as it is — not as the industry assumes it should be.

Germán has written and produced over 70 songs and brings a unique blend of technical precision and creative ambition to the label. He handles production strategy, business development, and the label's digital infrastructure.
